Forever Plaid

“These goofy four male singers didn’t quite make it to their first big concert. Miraculously, they’ve come back to life for a revival, serving up some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the 1950s.”

Lobby Display
The lobby display for Forever Plaid was designed to be viewed one way while entering the theater, and viewed differently upon leaving. The boys in the titular singing group are frozen in time, partially because the musical is a jukebox musical featuring the music of vintage tight harmony group, and also because they died in a tragic car accident on the way to a major gig.
I took black and white “glamour shots” of the cast and asked them to sign them, displaying them on a table surrounded by floral arrangements. If the audience didn’t know of the ghostly nature of the characters, it would look like a promotional table for a young singing group. And once they learned, the energy shifted to be that of an eerie memorial.
